Overview
Ticketing transforms your events into revenue opportunities. Whether it’s a championship game, showcase, or fundraiser, PlayState lets you sell tickets directly to fans. But getting from “event created” to “tickets selling” requires a few key setup steps—miss one and your tickets won’t be available to the public.
Prerequisites for Public Ticket Sales
Before your tickets can sell:
1. Stripe Connected
Ticket revenue needs somewhere to go. If you haven’t connected your payout account, see Set Up Stripe Connect Payouts.
2. Public URL Configured
Buyers need a public-facing page to purchase tickets. Your organization needs a public URL slug set up in settings.
3. Ticketing Feature Active
Ticketing may require a specific plan tier. Verify it’s included in your subscription.
Setting Up Your Public URL
Your public URL is where fans go to buy tickets:
- Navigate to Organization Settings
- Find Public Page or Public URL settings
- Set your organization’s slug (e.g., “northside-athletics”)
- Your public ticketing page will be:
playstate.io/northside-athletics(or similar)
Choose a slug that’s:
- Easy to remember
- Easy to spell
- Clearly associated with your organization
Creating a Ticketed Event
- Navigate to Ticketing → Events
- Click Create Event
- Fill in event details:
- Name — Clear and marketable (“Varsity Championship Game”)
- Date and Time — When doors open and event starts
- Venue/Location — Where it takes place
- Description — Details buyers will see
- Save the event
At this point, the event exists but isn’t selling tickets yet.
Adding Ticket Types
Every ticketed event needs at least one ticket type:
- From the event detail page, go to Ticket Types
- Click Add Ticket Type
- Configure the ticket (see Create and Edit Ticket Types for details)
- Save
Common ticket types:
- General Admission
- Student
- Senior/Child
- VIP/Reserved
Publishing the Event
Events have a publish status that controls visibility:
Draft (Default)
- Event is only visible to admins
- Public cannot see or purchase
- Use this state while setting up
Published
- Event appears on your public page
- Tickets can be purchased
- You’re live!
To Publish:
- Open the event
- Click Publish or toggle the publish status
- Confirm
The event immediately becomes publicly visible and purchasable.
The Ticketing Events List
Your ticketing events list shows all events with key info:
- Event name and date
- Status (draft, published, past)
- Tickets sold / capacity
- Revenue
Filtering
Use filters to find events:
- Status — Draft, published, past
- Date range — Upcoming, this month, etc.
- Search — By event name
Common Setup Blockers
“Event created but not showing publicly”
Check the publish status. Draft events aren’t public.
“Publish button is disabled”
The event may be missing requirements:
- At least one ticket type with pricing
- Required fields not completed
- Public URL not configured at org level
Review the event for warnings or missing information.
“Buyers say they can’t find the event”
Verify:
- Event is published (not draft)
- Event date is in the future
- You’re sharing the correct public URL
- Sales window hasn’t ended (if configured)
“I can’t access ticketing features”
Ticketing may require a specific subscription tier. Check your billing settings.
Sharing Your Event
Once published, share your event via:
- Direct link — The event’s public URL
- Organization page — Fans browsing your page will see it
- Social media — Share the link on your channels
- QR code — Generate a scannable code for posters
Monitoring Sales
Track performance from the event detail page:
- Tickets sold by type
- Revenue collected
- Remaining capacity
- Recent orders
Check regularly as the event approaches to ensure sales are on track.
Best Practices
- Set up early — Don’t wait until the last minute to create and publish
- Test the buyer experience — Visit your public page and click through (stop before actually purchasing)
- Double-check dates — Wrong dates cause major problems
- Communicate your link — Make it easy for fans to find where to buy
